Surprise!

So I was chatting up my sis-in-law Abby on the phone Friday afternoon during Thomas' nap when I heard a knock at my door. Thinking it was either Jehovah's witness missionaries or some kind of door-to-door salesmen I approached the door wondering inside my head if my screen is locked for safety when I noticed who was on my porch. I screamed "Oh, my gosh my mom's here" into the phone receiver and threw open the door to give her a hug. We hugged until I remember how awfully humid and hot it was and let her and Uncle Mark inside. Talk about crazy! The rest of the day, I kept saying how I couldn't believe she was right here. Well we couldn't just sit around and quickly thought up a play plan! The next day we went to the beach up north on Lake Michigan, this was the second beach off of Lake Michigan that I had been to within the same week and it was just as spectacular. Gorgeous sand, and clear water, and fun waves to play in. What a beautiful day. I loved Mom being able to be around Thomas and hear him talk and watch him bounce around everywhere. It is part of being rewarded as a grandma after having raised us kids. Sunday, after church we had a linner (lunch and dinner) at Abby's house with another couple and their kids. We had yummy Costa Vida type burritos and rice and beans. Yumm, my mouth waters just thinking about it. Monday Kevin had to go back to work and us girls went to the Detroit zoo. What a beautiful zoo! I love zoo's, I always feel 20 years younger when I'm there being all giddy when I see all the animals. My favorites are giraffe's, hippos, pink flamingos, and penguins. I think Thomas liked the reptile house alot with all the turtles, snakes, and alligators. It was such a fun week. Thanks mom for driving all the way out here. That was the best surprise! Now I'm anxious to see who is going to show up to surprise me next! There is a nice bed and complimentary meals as a perk.
