Well, Al Gore's theories don't seem to hold true here in Missouri. We had a "ice" storm last night and here is what we woke up to. School and work was canceled for Kristine and I due to the dangerous road conditions. I decided to take the morning off studying to take these pictures.

These ice storms are fascinating (of course I am a science geek). Basically rain falls and freezes on everything it lands on (freezing rain). As you can see in this picture, tree limbs and twigs have a layer of ice around them. There are numerous homes in the Midwest without power today because the weight of the ice on the power lines, combined with wind, cause the lines to break or the electric poles to snap. Pretty crazy. We are glad our electricity is still on, at least for now.
Here are some more photos.

Here is a picture of a hungry pregnant woman. (do not put fingers between the food an her mouth.)

i always like ice storms as a kid for several reasons:
1. when the sun comes out, it looks amazing
2. missing school, of course!
3. NOBODY goes out, so if you are brave enough to build something in the underlying snow, you are the ONLY ones out!!
great pictures!
That was Geoff that said that first comment. :) I am saying...that last picture made me laugh sooooo hard. Maybe it's because I'm pregnant myself and understand the gravity of it. :)
Great piectures. Cute, cute crib and sheets and bumper pads. Hope all this ice is taking a break when baby Welker comes. I don't especially want to drive in it.
